As you saw yesterday we got a new tree for the back yard. It's a ginkgo biloba 'Saratoga' which is a male variety of the tree. The female trees produce a seed that has a fleshy covering that smells like rancid butter when they fall off the tree. I've always really like the tree knowing that it has been around since prehistoric times. The leaves are a unique fan shape that turn an amazing gold color in the fall. They are also neat in that they are generally not bothered by any insects or diseases. If you want to read up more click here.-G

Another cool thing about ginko trees is that the duration from the first leaf to the last leaf falling off the tree is less than a week. You will only have to rake once. Good pick, it will be a nice tree.
