Spring Break 2007

THURSDAY-
When we arrived at South Beach on Thursday afternoon the weather was amazing! After quickly getting settled in our YURT we went down to the beach. Gabe was a little cold in his T-shirt since it was windy. There is a really nice boardwalk and viewing deck before you head down to the sand. But, no whales were sighted.

FRIDAY-
In Depoe Bay we went whale watching. From the whale watching center, we saw lots whale spouts and got so excited we decided to go on a one hour boat tour. (Heidi has never been whale watching before!) We saw this guy quite a few times. After a day on the choppy sea we went to the Rogue Brewery for some beer and dinner. They were having their garage sale this weekend so we got some good deals on beer and merchandise.


SATURDAY-
Since we've both been to the Oregon Coast Aquarium many times we went to the Hatfield Marine Science Center instead. It was busy! The morning was wet and cold and I think everyone was looking for some indoor activities. We also drove back up 101 to check out Yaquina Head Lighthouse and up to Devil's Punchbowl to see if we could spot anymore whales. The sun was out again but so was the wind!
For dinner we went to Local Ocean Seafoods (recommended to us by Dave and Carley many times!)
They were right...it was amazing! From the restaurant you get a very nice view of the harbor. After dinner we walked around Newport's Bayfront and said hello to the sea lions.
